Where To Insall Home Safe

A home safe is designed to protect your valuables against theft or fire. What you keep in your safe is up to you. Money, deeds, titles, jewels, and artwork are commonly placed in a safe, but if you feel you have other items of value, they can be included too.

There are so many different types of home safes to choose from. There are the standard industrial ones and more stylish ones that can be displayed neatly anywhere in the home. Safe installation can be done anywhere, and deciding just where to put the safe can be as difficult as deciding what to put in it.

The Bedroom

The bedroom is one of the most common places you will find a home safe. The safe can be placed in the corner of the room and is great if easy access to it is necessary. If homeowners place their guns in their safe, having them nearby is an important factor.

If you do not want a large safe standing in the corner of your room, you can find ones that fit neatly under your bed. The units that are designed for under the bed offer plenty of space to hide your valuables and place the safe out of view but still allow easy access to it when you need it.

The Attic

The attic is a great place for safe installation if you do not need access to it frequently. The attic offers an out of the way storage and keeps the safe out of visibility. Even if an intruder came into your home, chances are they would skip the attic as a place to ransack. This keeps your safe and your valuables protected against theft.

The Garage

The garage is not an ideal place for your safe, but if it is not wanted in the house anywhere, it is the next best place. It does have many benefits, such as being out of the way, easily accessed, and most likely not seen by intruders who enter your home.

The downside is that intruders that enter through your garage, which is a common method, can see the safe and your valuables become more vulnerable. Opening up the garage door allows a clear view of what is inside, so someone with a criminal intent who has seen it sitting in your garage may find it too tempting to avoid coming back for.

The Closet

The closet is the most common place to hide the home safe. If the safe is small, it can fit in just about any closet in the home. Most intruders expect you to hide valuables in the rooms that you are occupying, but not those you are not.

So, hiding the safe in a closet of a spare bedroom is an ideal choice. A home office, bedroom, living room, or other main room of the house is almost always checked for valuables during an intrusion. Larger safes can be stored inside closets as well, and spare rooms with closets that are not being used are still an ideal location for safe installation.
